1. Intro about yourself

As a web design, a photographer, or a freelancer, About page is a must section that you can introduce yourself to visitors who stop by your website. You're supposed to make it detailed yet concise because it's time wasting to read a long wordy page of biography to know what you are.
In this section, you can use a picture of yourself or an introduction video to help people get familiar with you.

2. List what you do

In fact, people stop by your website on different purposes. But viewing from the eye of a potential employer or customer, he obviously wants to know which types of services that you offer the most. Of course, in the About section, you did release a brief introduction of who you are and which jobs you're interested in. However, it's crucial for you to outline clearly all primary services you can provide in an attractive place.

Otherwise, you will probably lose the opportunity to make visitors follow you, when it takes so much time for them to find out what you do. So go straight to the point and show your strengths.

3. Make an easy-navigating design

Being an user, It's so frustrating for me to visit a website giving out a confused guide of direction, so I don't know where to go next. Of course, I leave the page immediately then. As a result, you need to assure that your portfolio design isn't over-complicated, so that visitors find it easy to navigate your site.

That trying to be an higher level can push you into trouble of risking potential customers leaving your site easily.
Just keep your design as simple and solid as possible.

4. Include best work in an awesome style

There is a must of including your real work in your website portfolio, however, including all of what you created is not the best idea. You should know that quality over quantity is a key standard, so try to keep a critical eye on what are supposed to display. For example, if you work as a photojournalist, putting some wedding photos in your portfolio doesn't make sense anymore.
All of your work should be strongly appreciated, but have you ever enjoyed them from the eye of your customers yet? Just focus on your major and display the best of your best work.

Choosing the best work to display on your website portfolio is not exciting enough to catch visitors' attention at the first sight. What's the secret here? Apparently, working in a creative field, you need to stand out from the masses by showing off your professionalism with a stunning style.

Just keep it as simple as possible, so that potentials clients can easily to get in touch with you. For example, building a clear contact form, showing your email address, or even suggesting visitors to contact via your social networks are good way to get connected with them.
