I was recommended this extension on the joomla forums when i was looking for a portfolio extension to show images of my work with a backlink TO the actual work (if this will be even possible). Install went fine, WITHOUT SAMPLE CONTENT. (This was done intentionally, as i dont like spending hours cleaning up demo stuff) I'm trying to set up an image gallery but so far not much luck. So i googled and found this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rUC-gEAr8Ns

Trouble already begins 50seconds in, as there is no "portfolio gallery" option. So i went to addons and installed "Grid Gallery 1.0.7 by Sonny". Next i clicked back on addons and the newly installed plugin. What do i see? A ton of missing language strings, so i can't make heads or tales out of anything (see attachment). So that addon is useless

All i want to do is:

1. Group certain images into "albums" and display those albums in a gallery on the website
2. Perhaps a description under the photo's
3. Insert a link to an url where the actual work is

is this even possible and if so what "style" is recommended for this

Nothing to fancy, or too complicated i would think. But i can't even seem to get off the ground.

Can't seem to add an image either with blacked out URL cause "system detected your content as spam" So a link will have to do https://drive.google.com/open?id=1x7C0YCovmu0MisDwJLVAz6sikS3NENJe

Could you email me a picture of where to look, from one of the articles? Breadcrumb display will likely be tied to it.

Hi,

Regarding the issue that article not display properly, you're supposed to select sub-categories below English category as well.
Because your articles are assigned to sub-categories, not parent category "english". I tried to add sub-categories, then article displays in front-end as normal.
About the breadcrumb issue, our coder will check it more to find out the reason why.

More investigation, more evidence the portfolio articles are not stored the proper way and are not respecting proper language assignments

I've set up 2 more categories. 1 for each site language (nl-BE) and (en-GB) and moved the existing categories (that have matching languages, and article items with matching languages) into their new parent categories.

Then i went into menu manager and changed the respective menu items from displaying "all categories" to their new "root" categories. 'Lo and behold, instead of still properly displaying the articles per content language, the articles for nl-BE simply vanished entirely. This because according to joomla, as mentioned above, they're stored in "content en-GB", because of the language mismatch the items are no longer shown.

This language problem even affects articles that are assigned to the default joomla site language (in my case enGB)

1. Main menu (assigned language en-GB)
2. - Portfolio (assigned language en-GB)
3. -- links to category "English" (assigned language en-GB)
4. ---- Category "English" contains 1 article (assigned language en-GB) which on the front end should show 1 entry.

End result: NO ITEMS are being displayed on front end

Change entry 3 from "English" to "All categories" and 'lo and behold the english entry appears.

Well now that the language problem has been sorted. That leaves the following problem

Portfolio menu item > language assigned (nl-Be) > Present under the menu "Main menu (nl-BE)" with the menu language assigned (nl-BE) > lists to an article that ALSO has the language assigned "Flemish (nl-BE)"

Yet when i click on the menu item, in the address bar i see <url>/portfolio instead of <url>/nl/portfolio and the breadcrumb path specifically states the article is located in

Home / Portfolio / Content en-GB / Uncategorised / <item name>

while this should be

Home / Portfolio / Inhoud nl-BE / Ongecategoriseerd / <item name>

If i unpublish the joomla category "Content en-GB" the path simply changes to Home / Portfolio / item name

Now if TZP articles could properly respect joomla language assignments (and thus reflect in the breadcrumb path)

I'm pretty much set (for now)

The tool i'm using loads the default language (in this case en-GB), and allows for easy translation i only had to do the addon files manually as they weren't visible. and in that case i did exactly what i'm supposed to do.

Copy the files, rename them to nl-BE, make the proper language folders and upload the files. This isn't the first language pack i'm building. It's not loading the file and they're in the proper FTP siteroot. I'll another e-mail.

Hi,

I checked version 2.3.8, and it seems look fine at my end.
Have you already created a language file with Dutch language, haven't you?
If so, you're supposed to duplicate the whole "en-GB" file and start to translate the copied file one by one to your language.
If you only copy some languages lines in "en-GB" file to translate, then the language file might not be loaded properly.

It's only half a fix. now defaults to en-GB strings, language file still not loaded.

Login, using NL-BE and enable language debug

/administrator/index.php?option=com_config

access addons link

/administrator/index.php?option=com_tz_portfolio_plus&view=addon&layout=edit&id=24

noctice how Grid gallery is properly translated to **Media type - Rooster Gallerij** but flipbook reverts back to "plg_mediatype_flipbook_gallery".

This shouldn't be happening when the language file is loaded

Now scroll down and check "Taalbestanden geladen"

Tada:

**Niet geladen** : JROOT/components/com_tz_portfolio_plus/addons/mediatype/flipbook_gallery/language/nl-BE/nl-BE.tp_addon_mediatype_flipbook_gallery.ini

Accessing the problematic plugin during language debugging /administrator/index.php?option=com_tz_portfolio_plus&view=addon&layout=edit&id=24

still shows the strings as ??PLG_MEDIATYPE_FLIPBOOK_GALLERY_XML_DESCRIPTION?? for example while this does NOT happen with the grid gallery

/administrator/index.php?option=com_tz_portfolio_plus&view=addon&layout=edit&id=22 (properly loads language strings)

Same problem on the category level

/administrator/index.php?option=com_tz_portfolio_plus&view=category&layout=edit&id=2

Click "Artikel weergave opties" and scroll all the way down

??PLG_MEDIATYPE_FLIPBOOK_GALLERY_OPTIONS_LABEL?? and lots more still there

Problem still there on article level

/administrator/index.php?option=com_tz_portfolio_plus&view=article&layout=edit&id=2

Click "Artikel weergave opties in categorie opsommingen"

scroll all the way down

??PLG_MEDIATYPE_FLIPBOOK_GALLERY_OPTIONS_LABEL?? and more still there.

Next click on "Artikel weergave opties", scroll all the way down

Say hello to "??PLG_MEDIATYPE_FLIPBOOK_GALLERY_OPTIONS_LABEL??"

Conclusion: language strings still not loaded and we're heading in the right direction but we're not there yet

As I can see, all language strings have been loaded with their values in back-end

No they havent:

Login with your the credentials you have and set your login language to nl-BE

Below is a direct link to the addons page

/administrator/index.php?option=com_tz_portfolio_plus&view=addons

Take a look at the 2 that are activated:

1 is properly loading the langauge file and is using the string "Media type - Rooster Gallerij", with language debug enabled it shows as **Media type - Rooster gallerij** (the ** means it loaded a language value)
the other is using the string value "plg_mediatype_flipbook_gallery", with language debug enabled, it STAYS "plg_mediatype_flipbook_gallery"

Now check the loaded language files

**Geladen** : JROOT/components/com_tz_portfolio_plus/addons/mediatype/grid_gallery/language/nl-BE/nl-BE.tp_addon_mediatype_grid_gallery.ini <== loaded
**Niet geladen** : JROOT/components/com_tz_portfolio_plus/addons/mediatype/flipbook_gallery/language/nl-BE/nl-BE.tp_addon_mediatype_flipbook_gallery.ini <== NOT LOADED, despite being in the proper directory

To translate the word "Page", you can go to Admin > Extensions > Language Override

I shouldn't have to use a language override, since that string is defined in the language file. The file just isn't being loaded, that's the problem

As I can see, all language strings of addons in backend have already been translated.

Here's a link to the currently only active article

/administrator/index.php?option=com_tz_portfolio_plus&view=article&layout=edit&id=2

Open the section "Artikel weergave opties" and scroll all the way down.

Notice how **ROOSTER GALLERIJ OPTIES** has properly loaded all the language strings, but ALL the ones for flipbook are listed as ??PLG_MEDIATYPE_FLIPBOOK_GALLERY_OPTIONS_LABEL?? <== meaning, unknown string, language string not loaded.

Same thing under "Media type" on the left, ??flipbook_gallery??

the language file for flipbook gallery is NOT being loaded, joomla sais so via language debug

Hi,

As I can see, all language strings have been loaded with their values in back-end
1. Despite now having properly translated addon language files, the site language strings being loaded still default to en-GB even with the entire "Content en-GB" article categories being unpublished. Instead of the proper translation "Pagina" for the value "page". Front-end language loads the english string "Page" on the flipbook front-end
-> To translate the word "Page", you can go to Admin > Extensions > Language Override > Select "Dutch (Belgium) [nl-BE] - Site > translate this language constant "PLG_MEDIATYPE_FLIPBOOK_GALLERY_PAGE" for language value "- Page"
(I helped you translate it)

2. Despite having a fully translated plugin language file /administrator/index.php?option=com_tz_portfolio_plus&view=category&layout=edit still loads english only strings for the sections "Grid Gallery Options" and "Flipbook Gallery Options"
-> As I can see, all language strings of addons in backend have already been translated.

3.Despite having specified everywhere possible NOT to show anything about the date/author/hits, flipbook entry still shows full author tags <full date>, <author name>, <category>, <hits>, <publishing date>
-> I helped you delete relevant rows (author, category, hits, date) in layout. Now they are no longer visible

We suggest that you should follow an example path: components\com_tz_portfolio_plus\addons\mediatype\flipbook_gallery\language\en-GB, duplicate the folder en-GB > rename to nl-BE (Dutch language) then start translate needed strings in that file.
You can do the same with other addons

Hi,

Thanks for your post here!

Here are answers to your questions:
1. Group certain images into "albums" and display those albums in a gallery on the website
-> It's surely possible, you can use add-ons like: Grid gallery, Image Gallery, or FlipBook gallery

2. Perhaps a description under the photo's
-> Currently, Addons like Image gallery and FlipBook gallery allow you to add captions under images
Grid gallery addon hasn't supported this feature yet, but it'll be available as soonest as possible

3. Insert a link to an url where the actual work is
-> Do you want to insert links manually to images in your albums?
If so, I think it must be a custom job because TZ Portfolio

Furthermore, you can look at our demo to see which styles fit your need the most.
Best regards,
